Legal Records

The Erie County Clerk serves as the official Clerk for the Supreme and County Courts of Erie County, responsible for maintaining all court-related documents. Civil actions begin in the Clerk’s Office, where papers are filed and an index number is issued by the Actions and Proceedings Department. Once a case is concluded, all associated documents are preserved in the Clerk’s Office.

E-filing of court records is now mandatory in Erie County. This system allows for the electronic submission of court cases, enhancing the efficiency of the Clerk’s Office and providing faster access to court documents for attorneys, parties, and the public.
