Legal Records


The County Clerk serves as the Clerk for the Supreme and County Courts of Erie County and is, therefore, responsible for keeping all court-related documents.  Civil actions begin here by filing the papers and obtaining an index number from the Actions and Proceedings Department.  All papers are filed in the Clerk’s Office when the action is finished.

E-filing of court records is now mandatory in Erie County – which allows the electronic filing of court cases, improving the overall efficiency of the Clerk’s Office.
