Auto Bureau

Welcome to the Erie County Auto Bureau! Under the direction of Michael P. Kearns, we serve as an authorized agent of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, providing convenient DMV services right here in Erie County.

Through our network of branch offices, we help residents with a wide range of motor-vehicle and driver-licensing needs.

We also bring services directly to the community through our Mobile Auto Bureau. Organizations, schools, and community locations can request a visit to make DMV services more accessible for residents who cannot easily reach a branch office.

Our goal is to provide efficient, convenient, and accessible service so that every visit is smooth and stress-free. Whether you’re visiting a branch office, using our online services, or taking advantage of the Mobile Auto Bureau, the Erie County Auto Bureau is here to help you get your DMV tasks done quickly and locally.

Renew Local — Keep Your Money in Erie County

When you renew your vehicle registration at the Erie County Auto Bureau, 12.75% of the registration fee remains in Erie County, helping support local services and operations.

You can still renew vehicle, motorcycle, boat, trailer, and snowmobile registrations without visiting an office. Visit our Renew Local page for complete details about available options.

When renewals are mailed directly to Albany or completed online through the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, no portion of the renewal fee stays in Erie County. Keep your money local by using Renew Local.
