Statement from Erie County Clerk Kearns Regarding Global ‘CrowdStrike’ Outage

Erie County Auto Bureau Operation Impacted by Global ‘CrowdStrike’ Outage, DMVs Will Be Closed Saturday, July 20

“The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NYS DMV) Servers and PCs have been affected by a problem with an update to the Microsoft-CrowdStrike cybersecurity platform that occurred overnight on Friday.

The Erie County Clerk’s Office is coordinating with New York State DMV’s IT department to get our six Auto Bureau branches back online so that we can conduct customer transactions and return to normal operations as soon as possible. 

Therefore, our Auto Bureau branches in the Eastern Hills Mall and the Southgate Plaza will be closed Saturday, July 20th. Customers that have a scheduled appointment for July 20 will receive next-step instructions in their email. Walk-in customers are asked to say tuned to our social media or local news outlets for operational updates.
