Kearns and Office for People with Disabilities to Host Special DisAbility Awareness Day

County Clerk’s Office Fosters Awareness with Auto Bureau Outreach

Erie County, NY- Erie County Clerk Michael P. Kearns, in partnership with the Erie County Office for People with Disabilities, will host a special DisAbility Awareness Day on Saturday, April 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Erie County Auto Bureau, located in Urbandale Plaza, 2122 George Urban Blvd., Depew. This community outreach event is open to the public, and no appointment is required.

During the event, individuals with disabilities and their families can obtain state-issued photo identification and receive assistance with a variety of Department of Motor Vehicles services.

“April is Autism Acceptance Month,” said County Clerk Kearns. “Our office remains committed to fostering inclusion and equity by helping individuals of all abilities obtain the identification they need. Access to proper ID is essential, especially when employment opportunities arise—and we want every resident to be prepared.” Kearns added, “With the right support and opportunity, inclusion in the workplace is achievable for all.”

Representatives from the Erie County Office for People with Disabilities will be on-site to provide information, guidance, and connections to valuable services and resources available to residents and their families. Individuals requiring reasonable accommodation are encouraged to contact the office in advance at 716-858-6215.

Those seeking a Standard Driver’s License or non-driver identification must bring original or certified documents, including a birth certificate and Social Security card, as proof of identity.

For a complete checklist of documents required for a REAL ID-compliant credential, visit erie.gov/clerk/autobureau or contact the Erie County Clerk’s Outreach Center at 716-858-8864.
