Fingerprinting and Personal Local Police Record History Checks

 

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office does not perform fingerprinting for New York State Pistol Permits.  To schedule a fingerprint appointment for Erie County Pistol Permit applications please visit www.identogo.com.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office offers fingerprinting and “personal local police record history checks” at the Identification Bureau on the 1st floor of 134 West Eagle Street in Buffalo, New York. 

Each fingerprint card costs $25. The Erie County Sheriff’s Office only accepts money orders or Master Card or Visa for payment.

  • Each fingerprint card takes approximately 20 minutes.
  • The individual being fingerprinted may supply their own cards or standard F.B.I. cards are available at the Identification Unit.

A “personal local police record history check” costs $25; $1 for each additional copy provided.  The Erie County Sheriff’s Office only accepts money orders or Master Card or Visa.  Please note the local police record history check form must be notarized or a commissioner of deeds must sign the form. The completed form must be presented in PERSON.

In order to obtain either fingerprinting or a personal local police record history check you must present a government-issued picture identification

  • Accepted forms of identification are:
  • Driver’s License
  • Non-Drive ID
  • United States Military ID (Active, Reserve or Retired)
  • United States Passport
