SHERIFF’S NARCOTICS UNIT ARREST SUSPECTED DRUG DEALER
ECSO Initiated an Investigation Following Observing the Suspicious Drug Activity
Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia reports the arrest of 43-year-old Darnell Carter of Buffalo on March 10 following the execution of a search warrant at 32 Parkridge Avenue in Buffalo.
Sheriff’s Narcotics and Intelligence Unit members observed the subject involved in suspicious drug activity near Shumway and Paderewski at approximately 7:40 a.m.
During the unit’s surveillance and investigation, Deputies initiated a traffic stop on Englewood Avenue near Main Street. Deputies discovered a quantity of fentanyl and cocaine on Carter.
After that discovery, the Narcotics and Intelligence Unit applied for a search warrant, and Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case granted the application.
The Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit, and members of the Buffalo Police Intelligence Unit assisted with the search, entered the upper apartment of the Parkridge Ave. dwelling, and discovered a quantity of fentanyl, cocaine, and a loaded .40 caliber handgun.
The Sheriff’s Office charged Carter with felony counts of
• Criminal possession of a controlled substance – 8 ounces or more – Class A Felony;
• Criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell – Class B
• Criminal possession of a loaded firearm – Class C.
Carter is also charged with three counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.
The defendant is remanded to the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment.
For a weapons possession conviction, Carter is on New York State parole and is a previously convicted federal felon for drug-trafficking charges.
