NEWSTEAD MAN ARRESTED AFTER DRAGGING DEPUTY ATTEMPTING TO EXECUTE A WARRANT

NEWSTEAD, N.Y. – Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia reports the arrest of Michael Trybuskiewicz, 40, of Newstead after an incident occurred Tuesday afternoon near the intersection of Routes 93 and 5.

 

At approximately 4:30 p.m., Trybuskiewicz, who was known by deputies to have an active warrant, was observed sitting in a vehicle. As patrol approached to attempt to execute the warrant, Trybuskiewicz put the vehicle in drive and sped through a rocky culvert while dragging a deputy. The deputy sustained several minor injuries to his elbow, ankle, shoulder and head. He was transported to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Amherst for treatment and has since been released.

 

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on the same date, Trybuskiewicz was taken into custody by the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office on Lewiston Rd. in the Town of Alabama. ECSO patrol responded to take custody of the subject. Trybuskiewicz was charged with:

 

  • Assault in the 2nd Degree
  • Reckless Endangerment in the 1st Degree
  • Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree

 

Trybuskiewicz was transported to the Erie County Holding Center pending court proceedings.
