NARCOTICS UNIT ARRESTS COCAINE DEALER AND TWO OTHERS FOLLOWING AN INVESTIGATION
Tonawanda, NY – Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia reports the arrest of 39-year-old Lonnie Spears of Tonawanda on multiple drug-related charges following a narcotics investigation.
Pursuant to the unit’s investigation, Spears was arrested on April 6, 2023, in Tonawanda.
During the arrest, Selena Spears left a city of Tonawanda residence and appeared at the location where Lonnie Spears was arrested. Selena Spears exited her vehicle and shoved a uniformed deputy. Selena Spears was taken into custody.
Following this incident, Lonnie Spears and the vehicle he was operating were taken to a secure location where a Sheriff’s certified narcotics K9 made a positive alert for narcotics on the vehicle.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Narcotics and Intelligence Unit was granted a search warrant for the vehicle by Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi. The subsequent search discovered approximately 50 grams of cocaine.
A second search warrant was granted for 66 Wynnwood Ave. There, unit members encountered 29-year-old Jessica Hajdu as she parked a vehicle in the driveway. Detectives and deputies searched structures at the address and discovered approximately 11 ounces more of cocaine.
Lonnie Spears, currently on parole, was arrested and charged with felony counts of a class-A felony for criminal possession of a narcotic, two counts of criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell, and a class-B felony for criminal possession of a narcotic. He is held at the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment.
Jessica Hajdu is charged with a class-A felony of criminal possession of a controlled substance and a felony count of tampering with physical evidence. She was arraigned and released without bail.
Selena Spears was arrested and charged with misdemeanor counts of obstruction of governmental administration and resisting arrest, and a harassment violation. She was released on appearance tickets.
