Long Island Woman Arrested While Attempting to Introduce Contraband to the Erie County Correctional Facility

ALDEN, N.Y. – Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia reports the arrest of Mellissa Cambria, 28, of Islip, N.Y. and Timothy Campbell, 30, an Incarcerated Individual at the Erie County Correctional Facility after correctional officers and ECSO Narcotics and Intelligence personnel stopped an attempt to introduce contraband to the facility.

 

The investigation revealed that Campbell conspired with Cambria over the phone to pass dangerous contraband during a visit. On April 16th, Cambria entered the Erie County Correctional Facility with her 3-month old child. Cambria was taken into custody. Upon conducting a search of her person, correctional officers discovered a knotted black latex ball containing suspected K2 in her bra and a black bag containing suspected K2 in her waistband. The 3-month old child was turned over to a family member.

 

Cambria has been charged with:

  • Promoting Prison Contraband in the 1st Degree
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Conspiracy in the 5th Degree
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child

 

Campbell has been charged with

  • Attempted Promoting Prison Contraband in the 1st Degree
  • Conspiracy in the 5th Degree

 

Cambria was transported to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment. Campbell remained in custody at the Erie County Correctional Facility.
