INCARCERATED INDIVIDUALS COMPLETE WORK READINESS PROGRAM
Ready, Set, Work! is a Component of Peaceprints’ Project Blue Program
Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia announces the completion of the twelfth Ready, Set, Work! (RSW!) program today.
The program, a component of Project Blue, is a 20-hour skill-based training designed to equip participants with the necessary tools to assist them in obtaining and maintaining quality employment. There is also an emphasis on career planning and advancement to encourage longevity in legitimate employment.
The RSW! Curriculum includes the following modules:
• Career Assessments
• Legal Issues
• Financial Incentives
• Job Applications
• Job Interviews
• Budget and Spending Plan
• Employer Expectations
• Barriers and Resources
• Job Retention
• Job Search
• Using the Local One Stop
The course also implements cognitive behavior therapy and teaches soft skills employers seek. Lessons focus on employment topics that prepare participants for the application process, interviewing, and maintaining employment with an intentional conversation, helpful dialog, and role-playing. The combination of training, experience, and consistent case management gives its participants the skills and confidence to pursue and achieve continued employment in the community.
