CLARENCE, N.Y. – The Erie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a hit-and-run incident which involved a patrol vehicle in the Town of Clarence Tuesday morning.
At approximately 3:50 a.m. on today’s date, a deputy was patrolling on Wehrle Drive. Upon passing Connection Drive, the deputy observed a black SUV with its doors open. Suspecting multiple individuals on scene may be attempting to break into vehicles, the deputy performed a u-turn on Wehrle Dr. and proceeded northbound on Connection Dr. to investigate. At that time, the individuals entered the black SUV. The vehicle in question then proceeded southbound on Connection Dr., striking the patrol vehicle’s front push bar on the passenger side before fleeing eastbound on Wehrle Dr. at a high rate of speed. The deputy was not injured. The SUV may have passenger side damage.
Additionally, two individuals living in the Connection Dr. neighborhood reported vehicle break-ins Tuesday morning. All of the aforementioned incidents remain under investigation.
