The Erie County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with the Clarence Central School District and US United on Friday, September 11 to honor the victims of the 9/11 attacks 25 years and support unity among Americans.
Prior to the Red Devil football team’s game against the Frontier Falcons, members of the Erie County Sheriff’s Office presented the colors for the national anthem. At the conclusion of the anthem, Air 1 provided a flyover above the stadium. Community Engagement Team and Mounted Reserve Unit deputies were also on hand to speak with spectators and participate in the commemoration.
The Sheriff’s Office’s involvement stems from US United’s Unity Seats program. The initiative brings together people of different backgrounds at sporting events to show that we are unified as Americans. The game at Clarence High School was one of dozens of Unity Seat events to take place across the country on September 11.
