BUFFALO, N.Y. – Sheriff John C. Garcia announces the launch of a new Erie County Sheriff’s Office anonymous tip application, developed by tip411. The “ErieCo Sheriff” smart phone application is now live and can be downloaded for free via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
This app further enhances the Erie County Sheriff’s Office’s connection and engagement with the community. Residents now have another opportunity to keep up to date on news from the ECSO, view alerts and submit tips. All tips can be anonymous and will be reviewed by Sheriff’s Office personnel. Residents without a smartphone can send anonymous text tips by texting the keyword “ECSO” and their message to 847411 (tip411).
While people across Erie County are encouraged to download and utilize the app, all time-sensitive emergencies should still be reported to authorities by calling or texting 911.
“We are thrilled to partner with tip411 and offer our residents an even easier way to connect with our deputies,” said Sheriff Garcia. “Strong partnerships and relationships with the community are necessary to provide effective public safety services. Our new smartphone application gives everyone across Erie County a safe and completely anonymous way to share information, report concerns and work with us to prevent crime and protect our communities.”
“We’ve listened to feedback from partners like the Erie County Sheriff’s Office and have built a more advanced and innovative product to help agencies better engage their communities,” said tip411 President Terry Halsch. “The ErieCo Sheriff app, powered by tip411, will greatly improve the public’s access to agency alerts, social media channels, important information, and more to help fight crime.”
