ASSAULT SUSPECT FORCES CLOSURE OF TREATMENT ROOM AFTER DAMAGING IT

Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia reports that 35-year-old Richard Frazier damaged a psychiatric observation room at Erie County Medical Center on Friday, April 28.

While in the Sheriff’s custody at the Erie County Holding Center, forensic mental health practitioners ordered the transfer of Frazier to the hospital for treatment and evaluation. At the facility, Frazier turned violent and damaged one of the two available rooms, rendering it unusable for an undetermined amount of time.

Frazier is remanded to the holding center without bail following his arrest by Buffalo police on April 22, 2023, for assaulting an individual with a 2 x 4. Frazier is charged with felony counts of assault – intent to cause serious injury with a weapon and endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person.
