Buffalo, NY – Erie County Sheriff John C. Garcia reports that a visitor and an incarcerated individual were arrested following a smuggling incident at the Erie County Correctional Facility on July 25, 2023.
During a visit, a corrections officer assigned to the visiting area observed 30-year-old Amber Gurbacki of Buffalo tossing a small bag to 29-year-old Kenneth Jefferson. When the officer approached Jefferson, he tried to conceal the contraband in his undergarment. Jefferson was searched, and officers recovered a small blue bag.
Gurbacki is charged with a felony count of introducing dangerous contraband into a prison and a misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Jefferson is charged with felony counts of possessing dangerous contraband in prison and concealing physical evidence. He is also charged with a misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Jefferson is being held on parole violations, and Gurbacki is held pending her arraignment.
