The Erie County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Health Division (CHD) provides comprehensive healthcare services to incarcerated individuals housed at the Erie County Holding Center and the Erie County Correctional Facility. CHD is committed to delivering compassionate, clinically appropriate care in a safe, secure, and professionally managed correctional environment.
As part of its commitment to quality, accountability, and continuous improvement, CHD supports healthcare practices aligned with National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards, Department of Justice guidance, and accepted community standards of care.

The Erie County Sheriff Office Correctional Health Division CHD will provide compassionate and clinically appropriate health care to incarcerated individuals within Erie County Holding Center and the Erie County Correctional Facility. Our services will be resource-sensitive and promote a safe, secure and healthy environment that supports successful re-integration into the community.

The Correctional Health Division provides a broad range of healthcare services, including:
Medical Care
- Routine, urgent, and chronic care services, including health assessments, provider visits, disease management, medication services, and specialty care coordination.
Nursing Services
- Nursing coverage, sick call triage, medication administration, treatments, patient education, and ongoing clinical monitoring.
Mental Health Services
- Mental health screening, crisis response, suicide prevention, counseling, psychiatric evaluation, and collaboration with forensic mental health professionals.
Substance Use Disorder Services
- Withdrawal monitoring, medication-assisted treatment support, counseling coordination, relapse prevention, and reentry planning.
Dental Services
- Urgent and routine dental care, oral health education, infection management, and referrals when clinically indicated.
Public Health and Infection Control
- Communicable disease screening, immunizations, infection prevention, health education, and public health coordination.
Reentry and Continuity of Care
- Discharge planning, medication continuity, linkage to community healthcare providers, and coordination of care to support successful transition back into the community.
