Taisha St. Jean Tard is a Buffalo, New York native whose career reflects a strong commitment to education, public service, leadership, and community engagement. A graduate of Leonardo da Vinci High School, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication from Medaille College in 2016 and later obtained a Master of Arts in Marketing Communication from St. Bonaventure University in 2018.
Throughout her professional and academic journey, Taisha has been recognized for her leadership and service with numerous honors and awards. She has been named to Business First's 30 Under 30, recognized as a Changemakers 30 Under 30 honoree, and received both the Grassroots Rising Star Award and Community Service Award. Dedicated to serving her community, Taisha has held several influential leadership positions. She previously served as Chief of Staff for the Buffalo Common Council, where she played a key role in supporting municipal operations, policy development, and community initiatives. She currently serves as an Associate Professor of Business at Villa Maria College, where she helps prepare future leaders through innovative and student-focused instruction.
In January 2025, Taisha took office as the Erie County Legislator representing District 2. During her first term, she has focused on advancing policies that strengthen neighborhoods, improve quality of life, and promote government accountability. She helped re-establish the Erie County Correctional Advisory Board, demonstrating her commitment to public safety, transparency, and community oversight. She has also worked to advance legislation addressing local needs and advocating for stronger engagement between government and residents.
As an educator, legislator, and community leader, she remains committed to creating opportunities for others, strengthening neighborhoods, and helping build a brighter future for Erie County and the City of Buffalo.
