
Susan Buttaccio is the Manager of the Grosvenor Room, the Special Collections Department of the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, where she oversees the Local History, Genealogy, Map, Music, and Rare Book collections. Her professional interests center on the role of libraries at the intersection of technology and community engagement, particularly in relation to local historic resources.
Susan began her career at the New York Public Library in 2006, following the completion of her MLS from the University at Buffalo’s School of Library and Information Sciences. She joined the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library in 2018, initially serving as a Children’s Services Librarian before taking on roles as Cataloger and Digital Resources Librarian for the Grosvenor Room.
Recently, Susan contributed to the International Federation of Library Associations’ 2023 Metlib Learning Circle, focusing on the concept of Convivencia in library design, and presented findings at the Metlib Annual Conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Additionally, she is an active member of the Preservation and Community Health Information Access committees of the Western New York Library Resources Council.
