POLONCARZ APPOINTS NEW COMMISSIONER OF SENIOR SERVICES

Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz has named Randall Hoak as the new Commissioner of Senior Services in Erie County. Hoak, who most recently served as Hamburg Town Supervisor, returns to county government following previous stints with the departments of Senior Services and Social Services. He served as Senior Services commissioner from 2013 to 2016.

Hoak also served as the Supervisor of Program Development and Evaluation in the Senior Services department and has additional work experience in the aging field in the Town of Hamburg, working as a Program Coordinator at Hamburg Adult Day Services and as Recreation Supervisor of Senior Services for that municipality. Hoak has also served as Director of Recreation for the Erie County Medical Center Corporation at the Erie County Home.

“I am pleased to welcome Randy back to my administration as Commissioner of Senior Services and am confident that he will excel in the position,” said Poloncarz. “Randy knows how the department functions and understands the challenges facing our senior population. His previous experience running town government in Hamburg on a day-to-day basis will only help him when working with our employees who regularly interact with senior citizens in our community. Just as he did with us before, I know Randy will put the needs and desires of Erie County seniors first.”

Commissioner Hoak added, “I am incredibly excited to return to County Executive Poloncarz’s administration. I know first-hand about the dedicated Senior Services staff and the outstanding work they do every single day. I look forward to reconnecting with the county’s many community partners to help ensure we will continue to provide quality services to older adults throughout Erie County.”

The Department of Senior Services strives to enhance the independence, quality of life, and well-being of older adults through the provision and monitoring of community-based services and supports.
