Participating Organizations will Light Two Lights Friday Evening to Commemorate the
250th Anniversary of Paul Revere’s Ride
ERIE COUNTY, NY— Erie County will be joining municipalities and organizations nationwide in a celebration of the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s famous midnight ride. “Two Lights for Tomorrow” will take place across America Friday evening into Saturday morning (April 18-19) with participating groups placing two lights in a prominent window in honor of Revere’s courageous act that alerted the colonists and served as a call to action.
“Two Lights for Tomorrow recalls the danger that threatened our nascent country in its early days and the courage of people like Paul Revere, who not only alerted others to that danger but stood squarely with others against it,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “Today, as danger once again threatens our democracy, Two Lights for Tomorrow serves as a beacon of hope and of common purpose for all Americans to find common ground against those who would destroy the liberties and nation our founders fought to secure.”
Old Erie County Hall at 92 Franklin Street will be displaying two lights Friday evening – Saturday morning as part of the celebration. Other participating groups locally include the Hull Family Home & Farmstead in Lancaster and the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site on Delaware Avenue.
