Walkers, runners, bicyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts have another option in the Town of Clarence with the opening of the new one-mile-long Northwoods Trail which connects to Waterford Trail at Roll Rd., working its way through the Northwoods Subdivision, ending at Greiner Rd. The trail is easily accessible to thousands who live in the Brookfield neighborhoods just south of its entrance. The project has been in the works for many years as a condition of the development in the town.
“Our town trails are extremely popular with residents,” said Clarence Town Supervisor Patrick Casilio. “We will continue to connect neighborhoods, schools, parks, and community facilities to our trail system as we provide even more opportunities for people to enjoy life in our town.”
The $560,000 project was 50% funded by the town with the remaining funding coming through the New York State Environmental Protection Fund. Northwoods Trail is ten feet wide and connects to the existing town trail system, which now totals more than 13 miles.
Several Town Departments contributed to the project: Engineering managed construction, Legal did the easement work, Highway added signage, and Planning secured the grants.
