Erie County Legislator Chris Greene announced primetime funding has been approved for various organizations in his district. The Girl Scouts of WNY, Great Falls Council, Inc.- Boy Scouts of America, Be A Friend Program Inc.-Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Erie, Niagara and Southern Tier, and the Jewish Center of Greater Buffalo all received ten-thousand dollars for summer programming.
“Our kids need to stay active and involved in the summer. It can be a challenge for parents to find ways to do that. The primetime funding ensures that they are socializing with their friends, learning to respect authority and participating in activities that keep them engaged,” said Legislator Greene, who added that all programming is adult supervised.
These organizations partner with the Department of Social Services. The funding comes from the Youth Bureau’s 2025 operating budget.
“Providing a safe and fun outlet for our young people in the summer months is important. These organizations do that,” said Legislator Greene.
