New Facility at 125 Cemetery Road Replaces Outdated Clarence Highway Barn
ERIE COUNTY, NY— Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz was joined today by Commissioner of Public Works Bill Geary and Erie County legislator Frank Todaro on Cemetery Road in the Town of Lancaster to inspect the recently-completed Public Works’ Highways Division barn there. A $9.2 million project, the new facility is a 21,500 square foot steel building with a 2,500 square foot support suite. The building also contains a vehicle storage area, three vehicle repair bays, mezzanine, welding area, wash bay, offices, locker rooms, secure storage, break room, and equipment rooms.
“This new facility will far better serve this Highway District, replacing an outdated barn in Clarence that was nearly one hundred years old and had significant structural issues that necessitated its closure. This barn is modern, bigger and more centrally located in this District,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “This investment will make services more efficient, provide a better workspace for our employees, and improve our operations.”
“I’m pleased that this new highway barn is in Lancaster. The central location makes it easier for workers to get to the many communities whose roads they plow in winter and repair in summer. This was a good and necessary investment by Erie County,” said Legislator Todaro.
