The Erie County Department of Public Works’ Highways Division continues to invest in new snow fighting equipment to combat Erie County winters and today Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz joined Commissioner of Public Works William Geary to review the newest additions to the county’s snow fighting fleet. Two Wasau Snodozer road blowers, an investment of over $2 million, are now on hand and can be mobilized quickly to support snow clearing efforts across the county during extreme weather events. The Snodozers replace two smaller, much older vehicles.
“These new vehicles are an investment that I proposed in my 2023 State of the County address as part of an overall strengthening of our snow fighting fleet, and its great to see that they have arrived and have already been used clearing the feet of snow we’ve received this year, especially in southern parts of the county,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “As we have seen, extreme winter weather happens quickly in Erie County and having the right tools to keep roads clear is essential. These blowers, which can be quickly moved and put into service in the hardest-hit spots, will complement our fleet of plows and tracked vehicles in snow emergencies. In conjunction with new high lifts we have purchased this increases our snow fighting capacity considerably.”
Poloncarz and Geary were joined at the Harlem Road DPW Barn in Cheektowaga by several Wasau representatives including VP of Sales, Engineering and Marketing Jean-Philippe Bourque; Sales Manager for Motorised and Airport Equipment Mike Minicucci; Director of Engineering and Airport Products Rikos Kasim; and the owner of Boyles Motor Sales, Vinny Fanara.
