About the Ethics Board
The Ethics Board promotes an environment where Town officials, employees, board and committee members and citizens work together in good faith, with integrity and honesty. This is accomplished by ensuring full compliance with the Code of Ethics, including the Annual and Transactional disclosures and the New York State Open Meetings Law. This volunteer seven member Board is appointed by the Town Council and authorized by Town and New York State Law. The Ethics Board can have no more than three members from the same political party. Each member serves for a five year term. The Ethics Board possesses the powers and duties prescribed by the Code of Ethics for the Town of Clarence, Article III, Section 19.10, to review Annual and Transactional Statements of Disclosure, act upon written complaints submitted by a Town resident, Town Official or Employee, and provide education to assist with compliance of the Town Code. The Board also has the authority to render advisory opinions upon receipt of a written and signed request from a Town Official or employee, regarding questions or alleged violations of the Town Code.
