Marla is first and foremost a promoter of Buffalo, a preservationist and a history enthusiast. After retiring from the Department of Homeland Security with 37 years of government service, Marla was certified as a Master Docent by Preservation Buffalo Niagara (PBN) in 2005. Since then, she has trained docents and has written and given numerous tours for that organization. She served there as a Board Trustee from 2006-2011 and as Vice President from 2012-2014. Since then, Marla has given a number of bus and trolley tours for Triple A, the Darwin Martin house and Forest Lawn. More recently, Marla has been narrating tours aboard the Miss Buffalo II and, since 2023, she has been giving presentations for University Express. It is through writing and giving tours and presentations that Marla hopes to continue to engage with community, inspiring both an interest and enthusiasm for Buffalo's rich history.
