An avid Chinese Mahjong player, John Chin has instructed many English speaking friends and family members on how to play Chinese Mahjong and most recently in formal classes held at the Grand Island Library in 2024 and 2025. He organized free weekly informal Chinese Mahjong playing sessions at the Western New York Welcome Center. The number of participants at these weekly sessions have grown considerable over the last two years since its inception. Chin is an American Born Chinese from Long Island, NY. He grew up teaching and playing with friends and family. He loved sharing this social game informally with others as a student in college and as a colleague at work during Asian-American Month activities..
