Jane Cameron

Jane Cameron is a Buffalo-based yoga who has trained under internationally recognized teachers including François Raoult, Bobby Clennell, and Judith Lasater, with direct study at the Iyengar Institute in Pune, India. A retired attorney, she brings a researcher's rigor to yoga's history and philosophy, currently pursuing coursework through the Yogic Studies certificate program, a scholarly curriculum in Sanskrit textual and historical study. Her research has examined Paramahansa Yogananda's 1929 seminars in Buffalo and their intersection with the Bhagat Singh Thind citizenship ruling — a case study in how yoga's American reception was shaped by immigration law and race. She teaches Yoga for Graceful Aging at Carriage House Collective and Tosh Collins Senior Center, and Yoga for Sewists & Fiber Artists at Carriage House and Stitch Buffalo. She treats yoga as a living historical tradition, not a fixed set of postures.
