Kohler
Douglas Kohler is a local historian and author who has written extensively about early Western New York. Doug taught history at Clarence Middle School for 36 years. Since 2009, he has served as the Erie County Historian. He has degrees in History and Education from Canisius College and an MA in American History from Pace University. Currently, he's working on his PhD at the University of Reading (UK). He has written numerous books on local history. Additionally, he writes frequently for Western New York Heritage Magazine. In 2011, the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society honored him with the Owen B. Augspurger award, which recognizes local historians devoted to the preservation of Erie County’s heritage.
