UE Field Trip: Hemlock Invasive Species Identification & Hunt May 13

This class will take place at Chestnut Ridge Park. Hemlocks are the fourth most common tree in NYS, and we are in peril of losing them in the near future to an invasive aphid-like insect. In this class you will learn how to identify hemlock trees, learn about their importance on the landscape, and how to survey for and report findings of a hemlock wooly adelgid infestation (HWA). This course has a 1-hour PowerPoint presentation, and a 1 hour guided stroll through Chestnut Ridge Park to survey for HWA. (Allow 2 hours for the class.) This event is limited to 35 guests.
