Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro says county lawmakers have authorized the County Executive to enter into a Right of Way Agreement with the New York State Department of Transportation for the William Street reconstruction project in the Town of Lancaster. The total cost of that agreement is $785,000, with funding coming from the Federal, State, and Erie County governments.
“Complaints about William Street come into my office on an almost daily basis. This is a multi-phase, multi-year project that hopefully will result in a better and safer road for the public,” said Legislator Todaro.
The full scope of the project includes pavement rehabilitation, widening of the road, stormwater drainage replacement and some sidewalk installation.
“Up to 14,000 vehicles travel that road daily. There is significant wear and tear, which makes it unsafe to drive. This road has needed attention for a long time. With this latest authorization, we are a step closer to making the needed improvements,” said Legislator Todaro.
Had this agreement not been approved, maintenance costs would have continued to increase, and there would be a potential loss of federal funding to help with the improvements.
