Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro says the Erie County Legislature has authorized the Erie County Sheriff’s Office to renew an agreement with the Alden Central School District whereby the Sheriff’s Office will provide a School Resource Officer for ten months a year during the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years. The school district will reimburse the county for the cost.
“Students and faculty deserve to feel safe in secure. By having a school resource officer on the premises, educators and the students can feel a bit safer knowing a sheriff’s deputy is on-site and can respond immediately to any threat. Alden schools have had a sheriff’s deputy for several years and I’m glad this will continue,” said Legislator Frank Todaro.
Alden Central Schools have had a school resource officer from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office since 2014. The previous contract expired at the conclusion of the 2024-25 school year, making this new agreement necessary.
