Legislator Todaro's June 2025 Bee Column

Welcome summer!  It certainly is the season I most look forward to. With the Independence holiday approaching, there are many celebrations planned.  Those include the first ever festivities for the Village of Depew.  On July 3 at the Fireman’s Park Pavilion there will be a concert at 7pm with food trucks, followed by a fireworks display at 10pm.  I was happy to secure funding for this event, courtesy of Erie County taxpayers.  In addition, the Town of Cheektowaga will host Freedom Fest from July 3 to July 5th.  Events include a concert, fireworks display and parade on Independence Day.  In the Village of Lancaster, a three-day event is planned to celebrate the July 4th holiday.  From July 3 through the 5th there will be music, carnival rides and games, a 10k race, fireworks and parade.  Beer tent proceeds will benefit the Lancaster Depew Boys and Girls Club. As a reminder, there is also a weekly concert in the park series in Alden, held every Wednesday from 7-9pm.

Summer also marks roadwork season.  There are a number of projects either already underway or planned for this summer. Those include mill and overlay for portions of William Street, oil and chip work for portions of Two Rod Road and Four Rod Road, and mill and overlay work on Aero Drive from Youngs Road to Transit Road.  In addition, there are engineering projects scheduled for Borden Road rehabilitation, phase 2 in the Town of Cheektowaga, Maryvale Drive rehabilitation, and work on the Four Rod Road Bridge in Marilla.  As always, this road construction means crews will be out. Please keep an eye out for them to ensure their safety during this road construction season.

Summer is a great time to take advantage of our beautiful public parks and golf courses.  You can plan your next gathering with family and friends and rent a shelter space or play a round of golf.  To make reservations, go to www.erie.gov

This past Sunday families around the country celebrated Father’s Day.  I want to give a shout out to all the great dads who put their families first. I am a proud father of five incredible children.  It’s so important that we provide the tools to teach them how to be strong independent thinkers.  I am grateful for my kids and for all the men who recognize the great honorand privilege it is to be a dad.  Happy Father’s Day.

As always, if there is a county related issue, please feel free to reach out to my office at 716-681-2071 or by email at Frank.Todaro@erie.gov
