Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro is proud to support efforts for a new multipurpose turf sports complex in Lancaster. Legislator Todaro secured three hundred thousand dollars in Erie County taxpayer funds to build the complex, which will include a field for football, lacrosse and soccer, as well as two smaller soccer fields and two softball fields.
“This will be a great addition to the Lancaster community. Many sports organizations provided their input to ensure this facility meets all their needs. When construction is completed, it will be a wonderful year-round complex that our youth and families can enjoy for decades to come,” said Erie County Legislator Frank Todaro.
Lancaster Youth Football & Cheer, Lancaster Depew Ponytails, Lancaster Depew Heat, Lancaster Depew Soccer Club and the Lancaster Lacrosse Association all worked with the town and developers to design a facility that would meet all of their needs. The Walden Pond Sports Complex will be built by a local builder of premier fields across the United States, A-Turf Inc. In addition, William Schutt & Associates and Wendel Companies will handle the field design and engineering needs for the facility.
“I congratulate all those who worked hard to make this a reality. So many people were committed to ensuring the Lancaster Depew community had a year-round facility for all our local sports programs. With the weather we have here in Western New York, having a place where our kids can practice and play, regardless of the conditions outside, makes this a tremendous asset,” said Legislator Todaro.
Groundbreaking ceremonies were held on Wednesday, May 7.
