Erie County Legislator John Mills presented proclamations to Officers Courtney Mackey, Kristen Mazur and Robert Simmons Wednesday night to recognize their hard work and dedication as School Resource and D.A.R.E. officers. Officer John Starr was also recognized but could not be present. These four officers work with the Orchard Park Central School district to provide a safe learning environment for students and educate them on making good life decisions.

Legislator Mills said, “Having uniformed police officers present in our schools not only provides a sense of safety but allows them to build a report with the youngest members of our community. These officers go above and beyond to work with students, families and faculty and deserve our recognition and gratitude.”

The proclamations were presented at the Orchard Park Town Board Meeting on August 17. Orchard Park CSD began the school resource officer program at the high school in 2018 assisted by funding acquired by then-Senator Chris Jacobs. Since then, the program has been expanded to the middle school and Erie2Boces.
