Minority Leader and Erie County Legislator John Mills honored Amelia Errington of Hamburg on achieving the Girl Scout Silver Award. Errington has been a dedicated member of Girl Scout Troop 30677 since kindergarten. The Silver Award is one of the highest honors a Girl Scout can achieve.
Inspired by her love of animals and years of involvement in 4-H with her dog, Amelia envisioned a project that would directly support pet welfare and access to essential pet care supplies in the community. As a result, Amelia Errington partnered with the SPCA to create a community-based Pet Pantry initiative, successfully organizing, stocking and installing three pantries at strategic locations; the Hamburg Library, the VFW Post in Lake View and the Blasdell Community Church, ensuring they are accessible to families in need and those seeking to care for their pets.
Legislator Mills presented a proclamation to Amelia Errington at a dedication ceremony at the Hamburg Library on August 25, with the unveiling of the pantry at that location.
