LEGISLATOR MILLS ANNOUNCES WORK TO BEGIN ON STABILIZING BACK CREEK ROAD

Erie County Legislator John Mills (11th District) announced the approval Thursday, February 16, 2023 of a resolution that will begin to address many of the longstanding issues on Back Creek Road in the Town of Boston.  The Erie County Legislature approved funding for the road reconstruction and slope stabilization project, and work is expected to get underway later this spring.

“I’m glad that the issues on Back Creek Road will finally be addressed.  I have been fighting for funding for this for a long time,” said Legislator Mills.  “The road is not safe.  Without this work getting done the road would continue to deteriorate, making it even more dangerous.”

Work is expected to begin later this spring to stabilize the slope and reconstruct the highway with new closed drainage.  In addition, the waterline will be relocated.  The estimated total cost of the project is $1.5 million.  The project will extend from the intersection with Rice Hill Road to 400 feet north of the intersection with Rice Hill Road.

“This is another step forward to addressing the many concerns associated with that road.  Hopefully this will bring some peace of mind to residents and motorists who use Back Creek Road,” said Legislator Mills.
