Legislator Mills Announces Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

Legislator John Mills approves a resolution to extend the Erie County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events for 2022. These events will allow Erie County residents to dispose of household chemicals and other materials that they no longer need or are expired in an environmentally safe way. The Department of Environment and Planning is planning to hold three such events this year. The County may receive up to 50% reimbursement for the expenses associated with this program as well.

Legislator Mills said, ā€œIā€™m very happy to be bringing back this great program to our residents for 2022. This program provides an opportunity for people to dispose of potentially dangerous chemicals from their home and in such a way that protects the health and safety of our community and environment. Please visit our website to find out about what types of materials are accepted at these events and to make your appointment for drop off.ā€

The first of these events is scheduled for Saturday, April 30th from 8:30am until 1pm at SUNY Erie South Campus located at 4836 Big Tree Rd., Orchard Park. It will be a drive thru format by reservation only. Those who sign up may bring up to the equivalent of six boxes of items or four five-gallon buckets. Organizers also ask that waste for disposal be placed in the trunk or at the tailgate of the vehicle with no other items so only waste items are removed.
