I hope you enjoyed the holiday season. I like to think of the New Year as a time of new beginnings and as we welcome in 2025, it’s a time to hit the restart button and proceed with optimism.
I want to congratulate newly appointed Erie County Legislature Chairman Tim Meyers. I am hopeful we can move forward in a positive way, acting in the best interests of Erie County residents. I also want to wish Erie County Legislator John Mills well, as he continues his service as Minority Leader.
I represent a district with more than eighty-thousand residents, and as such, am unable to consistently travel all the roads in my district. Because of that, I am reaching out to you and asking you to please let me know if you see a county road in need of repair. This proved to be effective one year ago when a constituent contacted my office about the conditions of Goodrich Road. Because of their efforts, I was able to reach out to Erie County Public Works so that they could address the existing problems. You can reach my office by phone at (716)858-8676 or by email Christopher.Greene@erie.gov Erie County has also established a pothole phone number and email. You can report the road issues by calling (716) 858-7966 or by email at potholes@erie.gov. Aging infrastructure remains a key issue in my district, and I will continue to advocate for proper funding to address the myriad problems that exist.
I want to remind residents that our Erie County parks remain open year-round, with events scheduled throughout the year. Akron Falls Park has a fossil exploration event on Saturday, January 18 where you can learn about the types of fossils found at the park, and hear about their importance. For more on what’s happening, go to www.erie.gov and click on the “Visit Our Parks” option.
I join the rest of the nation in mourning the death of former President Jimmy Carter, who left a legacy following his presidency that focused on peace and goodwill. His work with Habitat for Humanity is unmatched. He was a true humanitarian.
As our country prepares for a change in leadership, I remain hopeful that all sides can work together in a collaborative and cooperative way to address the most important issues of our time. This is a challenging period for not just the United States, but also for the entire world.
The Buffalo Bills had one of the most successful seasons in recent memory, finishing out the regular season with a perfect record at home. That record extended into the playoffs this past week, when the Buffalo Bills defeated the Denver Broncos in the AFC Wild Card game. I congratulate the team on an exciting season and look forward to this weekend’s playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens. Go Bills!
As always, I look forward to representing you in the year ahead and am grateful for the opportunity. All the best to you and yours in the New Year.
