U.S. Air force veteran Ross brings 27 years of law enforcement experience to the position
ERIE COUNTY, NY— Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz has announced his appointment of Brian G. Ross to the position of Erie County Commissioner of Central Police Services. A veteran of the U.S. Air force, Ross has served in law enforcement for 27 years, most recently as State Certified Master Instructor at the Erie County Central Police Services Law Enforcement Training Academy until resigning there to take the Commissioner position.
“The Department of Central Police Services plays a crucial law enforcement role in Erie County and Brian Ross is the right person to lead it,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “Brian has vast experience in law enforcement, has worked and built relationships with members of that community at all levels and has the knowledge and skills to take this Department to the next level. I thank him for accepting this appointment and look forward to working with him.

Ross has also served as a Criminal Investigator in the Office of the NYS Attorney General and as a Detective and Patrol Officer in the City of Buffalo Police Department. He also has teaching experience and has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his military and law enforcement career.
The Erie County Department of Central Police Services (CPS) was established in 1973 to provide support services to law enforcement and criminal justice agencies on a countywide basis. These services primarily include Enhanced 911, forensic laboratory, computerized law enforcement systems, Statewide Automated Biometric Identification System (SABIS) and the STOP DWI program.
