PAINT-ONLY COLLECTION EVENT SET FOR OCTOBER IN ERIE COUNTY

ERIE COUNTY, NY— Summer’s over, fall is quickly leading to that spooky time of year, and old paint is still sitting in your garage!  If you are not going to reuse it, you can recycle that paint and clear up some room in the garage.  It’s the perfect time to register for Erie County’s final Paint-Only collection of 2025 which is happening on October 18th in the Town of Hamburg.  This event is free, but pre-registration is required!

Residents can sign up online by visiting www.erie.gov/recycling or by calling (716) 858-6800. Appointments are limited and will be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.  To avoid long lines, the specific location for the event will be provided to those who register.

The Paint-Only Collection is sponsored by GreenSheen, which creates eco-friendly paint from left-over paint collected throughout New York State. Erie County encourages residents to properly dispose of any quantity of latex and oil-based paints along with acrylic, stains, shellacs, lacquers, sealers, varnishes, and urethanes at this collection event.

If you are unable to bring materials to this event, there are other options.  To find out where to bring paint and related materials, go to www.paintcare.org

“New York State’s Post Consumer Paint Collection Law has made it possible to collect and recycle paint,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “Unlike our other waste collection events, the paint-only recycling events are also open to businesses.”

Support for these collection programs is also provided by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, Northeast Southtowns Solid Waste Management Board, Northwest Communities Solid Waste Management Board, and GreenSheen.
