Nine Pin Cider as Championship Weekend Approaches
ERIE COUNTY, NY— Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz and Albany County Executive Dan McCoy have crossed lacrosse sticks over the upcoming National Lacrosse League (“NLL”) Finals, which pit the reigning NLL champion Buffalo Bandits against the Albany Firewolves. Buffalo overpowered the Toronto Rock in the NLL semifinals, outscoring them 22-12 to sweep the two games to advance to the league finals for the fourth consecutive postseason. The Bandits defeated the Colorado Mammoth to win the NLL Cup in 2023.
Poloncarz issued his challenge to McCoy in a social media post.
“I fully expect the Bandits to repeat as NLL champions and I have got a case of great local beer, Big Ditch Hayburner Ale, to put up against Albany County Executive Dan McCoy’s Nine Pin Cider and may the winner enjoy the spoils,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “The excitement of playoff lacrosse is incredible, and I am encouraging all fans in Bandit Nation to come out and cheer our team on to another championship!”
Game 1 of the NLL Finals happens Friday May 17 at 7:00 PM in Albany, while Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday May 18 in Buffalo at 7:30. Game 3, if necessary, will be played on Saturday May 25 at 5:00 PM in Albany.
