ERIE COUNTY DEPARTMENTS ARE READY TO GREET YOU AT THE 184th ERIE COUNTY FAIR!

Numerous Erie County departments will be on hand in the Marketplace Building throughout the 184th Erie County Fair with information, games, giveaways and more for fairgoers to enjoy during their visit. While most departments will be represented, fairgoers interested in speaking to any particular department should review the county’s Erie County Fair Schedule to plan their visit. The Erie County Fair runs from Wednesday, August 7 – Sunday, August 18.

The Erie County Department of Health will be offering a wide variety of health-related information and giveaways in addition to hands-only CPR training as part of an attempt to train 500 people in this life-saving technique during the Fair. There’s also a fun “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” game for fairgoers to try.

The Parks Department will have information about activities and recreation available in county Parks, interactive wildlife education materials, Parks Adventure Guides, maps and coloring books. Erie County Park Rangers will be at the table so stop by and say hello!

Seniors should be sure to stop by the Erie County Senior Services table, which will be promoting health insurance counseling as the department prepares for Medicare/Medicaid open enrollment, providing information on the upcoming HEAP (energy assistance) season, and distributing information on departmental programs such as  Nutrition, RSVP, University Express, and more.

Information on First Aid & Safety, Recreation & Sport Safety, All-Hazard Weather Preparedness, Pet Emergency Preparedness, Cyber Awareness and much more will be available from the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services while the Office for People with Disabilities will provide information on programs and services important to the community at their table on August 12.

Want to know more about where things go when you flush them down the toilet or the drain? The county Division of Sewerage Management will be on hand on August 13th with a “Where does IT go?” sorting activity/game to learn how to keep sewers clean and properly dispose of non-flushable/common household items. There will also be Pipes & Wipes demos to show the effects that grease, roots, and wipes have on sewers, and the department will have giveaways and additional information.
