ERIE COUNTY ANNOUNCES UPDATED VERSION OF “READYERIE” PREPAREDNESS APP IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD

Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz and the Erie County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services today unveiled the new updated version of the “ReadyErie” App, which can now be downloaded for free through the iOS App Store and Google Play.

Users can opt-in to receive critical alerts and weather updates directly from Erie County and can coordinate with family or co-workers through the ability to share your status with selected contacts on your device. The ReadyErie App also has useful information on ways to prepare before, during, and after a disaster, helping to mitigate damage and protect lives.

Users can create a personalized Emergency Management Plan and share that plan with family and friends. Every individual’s plan will include an Emergency Supply Kit Checklist tailored to their needs; a Customized Emergency Food Supply Shopping List; an Emergency Communications Plan to notify family of the individual’s status; and information to prepare your home for potential emergencies.

“Disasters can happen at any time. The ReadyErie App has been available to assist in family emergency planning and preparedness and this new updated version will enhance what users can do before, during and after emergencies,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “The app now has more useful information on ways to prepare before disaster strikes and help protect lives. I urge all residents who already have the app on their cell phone to download the new version and encourage friends and people in your household to download it today.”

“The updated version of ReadyErie offers enhanced functionality which more easily customized by the user for an improved planning experience,” said Homeland Security and Emergency Services Commissioner Dan Neaverth, Jr. “The ability to develop an emergency plan for your family, view maps displaying locations of fire and police stations, and much more can be done by adding the free app to your phone.”
