Conner Road in Clarence, .8 Miles in Length, Receives Over Half a Million Dollars in Work
ERIE COUNTY, NY— Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz today joined Commissioner of Public Works Bill Geary and DPW personnel on Conner Road in Clarence, a tiny .8-mile sliver of road that has received over a half million dollars in road and drainage improvements despite having a previous road score of 5. In reality not much more than an extended parking lot, Conner has gained outsized notoriety from a sustained outcry demanding the finest possible road for the roughly two dozen vehicles that putter through there daily. Drainage work on the miniscule road is ongoing and a brand-new, smooth road surface will be in place this week.
“Some people have driveways longer than Conner Road, but that didn’t stop us from investing over a half million dollars in this little patch of heaven,” said Erie County Executive Mark C. Poloncarz. “At nearly a whopping mile long, Conner is a good example of a road that really should be taken back by the municipality it is in, in this case Clarence, for maintenance and repair. That move would make sense for all involved and the two dozen vehicles that use this slip of blacktop each day wouldn’t notice a difference. In addition, residents on this pastoral stretch could then present their myriad concerns about it to the much-closer Town Hall rather than County Hall. It’s a smart move that should happen soon.”
Conner Road is from Stahley to County Rd. in Clarence. Don’t blink or you’ll miss it! Work on the much-talked-about .8 mile stretch includes drainage improvements and a hot-in-place-recycle with a top course overlay, a total investment of over $500,000.
