Erie County, NY – Erie County Legislator Jeanne Vinal, D- Amherst, presented a proclamation to Justin Cwiklinski, an Ambassador with the Make Lemon Aide Foundation for Cerebral Palsy (CP), and Carol Walier, aunt of the organization’s founder on Sunday, June 6th to kick-off their “Laps of Love” event at Wilkeson Point.
Founded by Lauren Walier in 2013, the Make Lemon Aide foundation strives to raise awareness and foster acceptance of community members with CP while also providing the most medically advanced opportunities and therapies possible in the absence of other large funding sources.
This year, the group is seeking to raise $30,000 to fund their physical therapy grant program that would expand access for those with CP to receive treatments they otherwise couldn’t afford. The event provided safe, socially distanced options and outdoor t-shirt pick up for registrants. “I truly value the work these non-profits are doing in our community. I know that fundraising has been a difficult task during the pandemic, and their ability to shift events and still engage so many people in their advocacy events speaks to their dedication to the organization and its mission. Make Lemon Aide should be commended for the life altering treatments and opportunities they have given so many,” stated Legislator Vinal.
