Erie County Legislator Jeanne Vinal Honored as a “Community Champion”

Erie County, NY – Erie County Legislator Jeanne Vinal, D- Amherst, was honored Saturday, June 26th by the Amherst Central Little League as a “Community Champion” during their Championship weekend events. Along with Amherst Town Supervisor Brian Kulpa, Legislator Vinal was present to receive this award along with other devoted volunteers and players.

Legislator Vinal was instrumental in delivering $250,000 of Erie County capital funding to the league this year for upgrades to the handicap bathrooms located on site. This also included additional county roadwork for the area and coordination with the Amherst Highway Department to ensure that the installation didn’t cause unneeded disruption of a viable roadway in the future.

“In multiple meetings with the Central Amherst Little League, it became very clear how necessary these repairs were. Since my first weeks in office, I have made this project a priority because I understand how deeply it effects so many of our children and families who enjoy baseball and take part in the programming offered here. I’m proud that Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz was so supportive and I’m grateful for the partnership of Supervisor Brian Kulpa. Thank you to the Central Amherst Little League for recognizing my efforts, and I promise to continue advocating for families of the 5th Legislative District,” stated Legislator Vinal.
