Two Individuals Arraigned on Charges Related to Shooting That Injured 14-Year-Old Victim

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 20-year-old Isaiah K. Hicks of Buffalo was arraigned on Wednesday morning before Buffalo City Court Judge Philip Dabney on one count of Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class “E” felony) and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class “A” misdemeanor). A 16-year-old juvenile was also arraigned on one count of Assault in the Second Degree (Class “D” felony) and one count of Criminal Possession of a Firearm (Class “E” felony).

It is alleged that on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at approximately 8:45 p.m., the juvenile defendant shot the victim in the back at a home on Mary B Talbert Boulevard in the City of Buffalo.

Hicks is scheduled to return on April 17th at 9:30 a.m. for a felony hearing. He was released on his own recognizance as the charges are non-qualifying offenses for bail. The 16-year-old juvenile is scheduled to return on March 24, 2023 for a felony hearing. The juvenile defendant was remanded.

DA Flynn commends the work of the Buffalo Police Department Gun Violence Unit for their work on this investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Noha A. Elnakib of the Major Crimes Unit.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
