Tonawanda Man Pleads Guilty to Felony Assault Charge for Stabbing Another Man Outside Tavern

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 30-year-old Zachery S. Meer of Tonawanda pleaded guilty yesterday afternoon before Acting Erie County Court Judge Andrew C. LoTempio to one count of Assault in the Second Degree (Class ā€œDā€ felony). 

On Sunday, June 11, 2023, at approximately 11:40 p.m., the defendant caused physical injuries to the victim by stabbing him in the torso with a knife. The crime occurred during an altercation on the patio outside of a tavern on the 1800 block of Colvin Boulevard in the Town of Tonawanda. The victim, a 29-year-old male, was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he was treated for a stab wound.

Meer faces a maximum of 7 years in prison when he is sentenced on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. Prosecutors requested that the defendant be remanded pending sentence, but the defendant was released on his own recognizance. 

A temporary order of protection issued on behalf of the victim remains in effect.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Peter M. Pinelli of the Felony Trials Bureau.
